"New" eBay strategy
Per our friends at IR, eBay has announced going after the liquidation business of manufacturers - in theory taking on Overstock.com. Guess the Amazon battle is over. Take on someone that you should be able to take market share from. Battle of the un-fittest - Just kidding. Clearly eBay is focusing on its strength (for the manufacturer segment/power/platinum seller) by allowing the channel to serve a good marketplace to liquidate (for inventory excess issues OR for marketing the brand) aging inventory from manufacturers. Which in this economy is pretty much everyone. Good story. Market Diversification is the key.
